Calling all graduate students interested in the history of Southern California: In celebration of the 100th volume of the Southern California Quarterly, the Historical Society of Southern California would like to look back at the ways in which the journal has covered various topics related to the region’s history. We’re seeking historiographical essays that provide an overview of a thematic topic through articles published in the Quarterly over the years. Scholars are free to choose the thematic topic of the essay. All topics are welcome. Selected scholars will be asked to present historiographical essays at an upcoming conference this summer. Additionally, the historiographies will be published on the Southern California Quarterly’s website. This is a prime opportunity to develop a scholarly publication and a conference talk as well as to compile a review of the literature for a thesis or dissertation project. If interested, please contact Donna Schuele at president@thehssc.org by April 1.
