Submission Information
Southern California Quarterly (SCQ) is now accepting new submissions under the editorship of Jonathan van Harmelen, Ph.D.
We invite faculty, independent scholars, and graduate students to submit original research articles that contribute to the study of Southern California history, broadly defined as the region stretching from the U.S.–Mexico borderlands to Central California. We also welcome strong submissions addressing California history more broadly.
Areas of Interest
While SCQ considers work on all aspects of California history, we are particularly interested in manuscripts that engage with:
- Borderlands studies
- Environmental history
- Gender history
- Sexuality studies
- Economic history
- Social history
- Public history related to Southern California
Interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged, especially those that offer new interpretations, methodologies, or perspectives on the region’s past.
Who Should Submit
We welcome submissions from:
- Faculty scholars
- Independent researchers
- Graduate students
All manuscripts must present original research and should not be under review elsewhere at the time of submission.
Please go to our SCQ Publication for guidelines.
